I agree that it is not necessary to restart the server. I think you just need to reload metadata in the presentation service. I am actually doing the installation and configuration for OBIEE as well and find it quite complicated compared to 10g. You said that you have completed the single sign on for OBIEE 11g. Does it work smoothly in your env?

Regarding this post: I do not believe that the server restart is required (presentation catalog changes are instantaneous (or thinking about it in another way, done in “real-time”. There is no commit or rollback (so to speak.) Simply deleting the objects noted in your article above, then refreshing the General Properties page will do the trick.

General: Thank you for taking your time to describe your findings with OBI. I will be returning to read your article on single sign on. We have just completed implementation of single sign on with OBIEE 11g (Solaris to Exchange) and found it to be quite complex and challenging.
